Recommended places to register your website for NZ websites

Getting links to your site will improve your search engine ranking on Google. Any links you can get are good, but links from websites that have some relevance to yours are best. This includes links on listings and directory sites that list all sites in your category. If you are a member of any associations it is a great idea to ask them to add a link to your website in their directory.

These are generic listings sites and search engines that you should register with to bump up your search ranking on Google:

1.      Google – www.google.com/addurl (or use Google Webmaster Tools or Google Analytics)

2.      Google local business directory http://www.google.com/local/add

3.      YahooXtra – http://nz.search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html

4.      MSN - search http://search.msn.com/docs/submit.aspx and directory on https://ssl.search.live.com/listings/ListingCenter.aspx

5.      Finda – www.finda.co.nz (this automatically feeds to Google Maps, Wises, and UBD)

6.      Yellow Pages – www.yellow.co.nz (you have to pay a small amount for a website URL in the directory)

7.      NZSearch – www.nzsearch.co.nz/addsite

8.      NZPages – www.nzpages.co.nz/modules/directory/add.asp

9.  Gopher – www.gopher.co.nz

You can find which sites link to you and other things by typing this into Google:

info:yoursite.co.nz
